# How CityVerified makes money

Checking businesses costs money: researchers, calls, visits and record lookups. We pay for it with optional products businesses can buy, and with fees for quote requests homeowners choose to send. Here is what is paid for and what never is.

## Where our money comes from

### Enhanced profiles

An annual fee for photos, a longer description, services with prices and faster review of updates. Marked “Enhanced profile” on the record.

### Monitoring

A monthly fee for license and insurance alerts. Monitoring does not change how often we check.

### Quote requests

When you send a request, each business you chose may pay a fee. Only verified businesses can receive requests.

## What is never paid for

-

**Check results** No business can pay to pass a check or to be checked sooner.

-

**Recommended status** Based only on checks and the public review record.

-

**Order in lists** After the three featured businesses, recommended lists are alphabetical. Any sponsored placement is labelled and kept outside them.

-

**Removing a failed check** The history of every record stays on file.

-

**Your details** We never sell homeowners' contact details. They go only to the businesses you pick.

-

**Reviews** We do not write, filter or buy reviews; we count public ones.

## How we keep money and results apart

Researchers cannot see which businesses pay. The business team cannot edit records. Every change of result needs a source and is logged in the record's history, and a second researcher reviews any downgrade. ## Questions about money and checks

Does a paying business get a better verification result?

No. Researchers cannot see who pays, and every result needs a public record or document behind it. A paid plan never changes a check, the seal or recommended status.

Who pays for the record checks?

The checks are paid for by optional profile upgrades, monitoring and fees for quote requests that homeowners choose to send. Being checked is free for every business.

Do you sell my contact details?

No. A quote request goes only to the businesses you tick, and we never sell or share homeowners' details with anyone else.

CityVerified checks public records and documents so you can see who you're dealing with. We earn money from optional business profile upgrades and, when you ask for a quote, from the businesses that receive it. Neither affects verification results.
